Hidden Assets: Are You Undervaluing Your Biggest Asset?

In the world of today and at the start of our 4th industrial revolution organizations are increasingly exposed in the quest for value creation. In guiding their organizations and increasing the value of their businesses, CEO’s, CFO’s and CIO’s are getting more and more convinced that a shareholder’s perspective focused on financial performance alone is not sufficient anymore and will no longer solve their future challenges.

The integrated thinking approach by the Integrated Reporting Council is enhancing the way organizations can think, plan and report the story of their businesses, by using a comprehensive set of capitals other than only financially driven ones. Integrated Reporting is helping organizations to think holistically about their strategy and plans, make informed decisions and manage key risks to build investor and stakeholder confidence and improve future performance.

After the Why (the need for another way of steering the business) and the What (the integrated thinking approach as a comprehensive way of performance management) comes inevitably the How. How can organizations operationalize integrated thinking in such a way that strategic plans are executed taking long-term value creation into account?

In our workshop “Hidden Capitals: Are you undervaluing your biggest asset?” we share our journey in uncovering ways to operationalize integrated thinking. Considering that up to 80% of a company’s value is not reflected on its balance sheet – its financial and manufactured capitals – traditional accounting driven planning does not suffice anymore. Given this “value at stake” we want to elaborate on ways how to enhance strategic planning with the intellectual, human, and social & relationship capitals.

Let us inspire you in what ways organizations can challenge the trade-off between short-term financial gains and long-term value creation.
